The New iPad was introduced in March 2012, but instead of the
anticipated iPad3, Apple has chosen to name this latest iPad -"The New
iPad" or "third generation iPad" instead.

Outside - the New iPad looks and feel about the same as the generation before. The latest one is 0.03 inches thicker and 0.11 pounds heavier than the previous generation. The increase in size and weight is really not noticeable.

Retina display offers a very impressive high resolution of 2048 x 1536. This translate over 301 million pixels total at the same 9.7 inches ( diagonal ) screen size as before, for a density of 264 pixels per inch. The new display offers 44 percent better color saturation than the screen on the last generation.
Camera - the iPad2 was furnished with a substandard 2MP camera. The new one offers a better 5MP ( 2592 by 1936 pixels ) iSight camera,,which provides auto-exposure, auto-focus, auto-face-detection, auto-exposure lock, auto-focus lock, and low-light noise reduction. The video functionality is also upgraded from 720p resolution to 1080p. This is the same setup found on the iPhone4.
Processor - a new dual-core A5x processor is now the heart of the New iPad. Apple claims this A5x's processor is 4x faster than many competing tablet computers.
Wireless - this new tablet now takes full advantages of the 4G wireless network. It is also 3G network compatible. Two different models will be offer to work with the AT&T 2100 MHz and Verizon's 700 MHz LTE networks. This faster wireless technology will be about 3x faster compare to the previous model. Currently, it is not compatible with the Sprint's cellular network.
Battery - The new one offers 10 hours of battery life for WI-FI surfing, movie watching, and music listening. This is the same as the previous generation.
Smart case - the iPad magnetic smart case was introduced for iPad2. It will still work for the current version as most accessories since the two are about the same in size. Most back case and accessories designed and made for the predecessor will most likely to work on this current version.
Cost - the current model offers the same price points as the previous model. The WI-FI only 16GB is $499, 32GB is $599 and 64GB is $699, the WI-FI + 4G models will be 16GB is $629, 32GB for $729 and 64GB for $829.
